Granny Squares began in 1891 in the ‘Art of Crocheting’. It was a way to work with scraps of yarn instead of throwing them away and it has been popular ever since, and even more so as it is now a la mode in haute couture. The magazines are filled with photos of crochet sweaters, scarves, coats, gilets galore and bags!
We decided to adapt the crochet design to needlepoint, using long satin stitches to form the squares instead of crochet; long legged cross stitch divides them, and we have added a border of Knitting Stitch and edged the border in chain and blanket stitch.

Kit contains:
100% cotton 10 count canvas, printed in full colour, double sided. Enough Anchor tapisserie wool to complete the design, a needle, a colour picture and easy to follow instructions for stitching and making up and genuine bamboo handles, all in a black glossy gift bag.
